OMG...

...about 4 weeks to go until Canada!

And all my Contiki documentation arrived today. I've been trying so hard not to think about it, 'cos there is so much work to be done at school...but how exciting! I can't wait now! :D

Wow it's 2010...

...and I am leaving in just over 5 months! :)

Some things I need to do:
* Get a decent book to read on the plane...and maybe some drugs! ;)
* Sort out a camera - mine is a pain in the arse!
* Pay mum and dad off and start putting more money onto my Canadian card.
* Buy some more clothes - I have no idea what I will need, do I want winter clothes or summer clothes???

I decided on a travel companion yesterday at least. Thanks to Becca and Mr Bump, I'm taking my itty bitty wombat Matilda that mum and dad bought me a few years ago :)

A girl from the Contiki site set up a Facebook group, so I now know 2 other people I will be travelling with. Sadly I am the oldest so far! :( But I feel a bit more confident too!

Why???

I ask myself all the time why the hell am I going on Contiki? Travelling has never interested me in the least. Ok that's a lie; the only place in the world I was keen on was France. I guess new situations always scare me so it’s not something I've really considered.

Then earlier this year I was reading a Kathy Reichs book, which is set around Quebec and Montreal and that's when it hit me. I decided then and there in my bed at 10pm one night that I was going to Canada. At that time the plan was to only visit the French speaking part of Canada. The more I looked into the more expensive it seemed to become. So one day I just gave up.

About 4 weeks later I was talking to a Canadian friend and she was telling me about other parts of Canada and when was the best time to go, etc. She gave me heaps of websites to look at which got me interested again. That was when I stumbled on the Contiki website. I picked the Grand Canadian tour so I could visit Quebec but also get a taste of other parts of Canada.

So I had the tour selected but it seemed like months before I was able to book the dates. Again, my interest was starting to waiver. Then shit went down at work and I decided that I deserved something for me and everyone else can shove it. Finally the dates became available for next year and I booked myself my first decent holiday!!!

The sad thing is that it is still 9 months away…I’m just looking at that time as an opportunity to make a lot of spending money!
